  2. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars SqualidsargeStudios says:

Those โ€œelectriciansโ€ should be fired. Lazy amateursโ€ฆ

I am by no means an electrician. However, I do have a slightly advanced knowledge on how to do electrical work correctly, and safely. What this "electrician" did was not by any means safe, professional, or adequate. I felt like I was watching a Billy Mays commercial with you showing "but wait, there's more!" That ground, well lack thereof really bothers me and I know NEC code on grounding techniques. Also I know with heavy voltage use equipment like HVAC systems, some require their own ground due to their energy consumption and safety reasons. No way I'd want this to short and there to be a break or plastic junction in the conduit going to the panel. Or to them short another piece of equipment out. I really commend your going above and beyond to remedy these deficiencies and hopefully they can get a real electrician out to go over everything.

I have been an electrician for years and I would definitely take photos and report these guys to the state licensing board … the bonding (EGC) termination and LB is not weather tight and all the other violations too!

  5. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars James Toy says:

My question why would you have shut off power to the whole restaurant? That makes no sense ! Run your wire then make sure breaker is off then hook up. Not hard and im not an elecrictrian . I understand your frustration . Awesome job look really nice.

  6. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Pyro4100 says:

None of that crap is up to California electrical code so I'm pretty sure the person they hired to do the electrical work was not actually an electrician Service area Ottawa??

  7. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Bear says:

It amazes me how calm you are, how you apologise for being mad. I just feel as a Brit, here in Blighty we would be in full on Anglo Saxon swear mode, I know I would have been. You lot just say 'gosh'!

  8. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Ric Dale says:

Yeah thats scab work right there. Guys that arent held too standards and have no pride in their work. No wonder you are a busy man. You work amongst minions of idgaf's apparently. This sort of lackluster work used too be few and far between however times have changed. Service area Orleans??

  9. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars loud Noise says:

Given the era, a lot of your videos talk about how you solve the problem and sometime later come back to fix the problem. Are you sure this isn't the case with the electrical contractor doing the same thing here?

  10. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Natsumi dragneel says:

    NEC 250.134 Wiring Methods Grounding
All electrical equipment, metal boxes, cover plates, and plaster rings shall be grounded. All switches, including dimmer switches, shall be grounded.

    Min. Wire Ampacity (100 ft away) = 125A ร— 1.2 = 150 Amps

That means that we need a wire with at least 150 ampacity to deliver 100 amp service, 100 feet away. 1/0 AWG wire has 150 ampacity. That means that 1/0 AWG wire is the perfect size wire for 100 amp service 100 feet away.

  11. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Liam says:

I get running larger wires if the previous ones overheated, but not grounding a system like that is asking for trouble.

  12. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars CountryRock _2001 says:

Where can we hear the uncensored version of your rant on the electrician? ๐Ÿคฃ Seriously though, there's no excuse for such piss poor electrical work. Its appalling that someone would leave a job like that. Are you in Kanata ?

  13. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Socal Refrigeration says:

    Fucking sparky Service area Kanata??

  14. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars PAUL B says:

As always excellent video Chris…you have the best training videos on YouTube! Service area Barrhaven??

  15. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars PAUL B says:

It's not incompetence it's laziness. He knows how to do it right…but he's lazy and he doesn't care. My main concern is…IS IT SAFE?

  16. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Martin Martinez says:

    End of the video

  17. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars kaptaintrips says:

How cold does it get there in Coachella, Cali? That looked like a lot of heat BTUs for a single restaurant RTU. Looked like heat for a South Dakota unit…

  18. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jordan Lewis says:

Definitely not a legal ground, i believe its supposed to go all the way to earth ground bus bar in the panel, insane this hackery.

  19. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars lexmarks567 says:

Probably hired somones druncle and offered them a few 12 packs to do the electrical. Your 15 year old son could do a better job.

  20. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars kaptaintrips says:

Why is it always "Hurry up and Wait" with electricians? It's not as though I envy their job because it seems to be a monotonous plus tedious and unfulfilled trade to me but FFS, instill some pride in your trade, shoddy electricians… you're getting scale…

  21. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars ckhallock88 says:

City inspector might like to know about that as well. ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚

  22. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Dragonfire Productions says:

Actually it's better to have fuses as fuses act faster than the breakers, also it's a pain to come running up and down for that.

Also crimp terminal lugs so that the stranded wire doesn't fray out and cause hotspots to occur.

Lastly that's the right sized wire, you always have an overhead especially in long runs looks like a 0 gauge not sure I'm just a novice electrician Are you in Barrhaven ?

  23. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars CWeed Coins says:

great video glad to see someone who cares Are you in Orleans ?

  24. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Juan Bocanegra says:

Lmao if only yโ€™all knew the amount of half-assery that happens on those Home Depot RTUโ€™s

  25. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars GigasGMX says:

You're not dumbfounded; the client is the one who found this electrician! rimshot

  26. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Robert Dillon says:

    I love your work ethic.

  27. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars mr man says:

I'm a air conditioning technician the way I see it if I can wire up a controller with 50 connection points and relays contactors capacitors soft starer then why would I get someone who knows less about electricity than me not only that they take short cuts not all of them but there is a few

  28. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars zc world says:

maybe its time to get a electrician on your team so you can run your own cables when needed (im sure there is a lot of work for them , at all of the places your look after)

    apprentice electrician , and i know better…..
but even i see a lot of stuff like that …
but even before i started i knew better to make sure cables did not rub out

  29. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars c_young-HVAC says:

I'd love to add sparky to my office ….but there's nooooooooo way no time I'd like to take care of it all myself .like your video description reads …..never apologize for caring about better workmanship

  30. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Mike Sheets says:

Even in good times people donโ€™t want to do the job right Iโ€™ve worked with allot of sub contractors thereโ€™s only a few that actually care what there work looks like

  31. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Robert S. says:

It sucks so hard when you recommend hiring a specialized trade to do the work, and that company does a worse job than you could have done yourself. Always seems to happen when you try to do the right thing.

  32. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Straycurrent says:

Considering the pathetic electrical job, I think your reaction was actually calm and reserved. Stayin' cool on a hot roof.

  33. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Iowa Photos says:

Last I knew you must run a ground to the supply panel and it can only be de-rated by one wire size of the feed. SO best case scenario is feeders are #3 and the ground #4 all the way to the panel. I can be wrong and someone will tell me i am sure.

  34. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Joseph Conway says:

    Excellent video!! Really good stuff!๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜Ž

  35. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars sean peterson says:

Buy the fieldpiece sc680โ€ฆ has phase rotation built in

  36. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars blake krueger says:

Iโ€™m a apprentice electrician, Iโ€™m not the best electrician and probably never will be, looks like a 5 year old did that work๐Ÿ˜‚ Are you in Nepean ?

  37. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Moose's Corner says:

I hope you shamed their company and hope the person who did that job sees this

  38. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jason Myhren says:

Welcome to California I see this kind of shit everywhere I go it is a total joke tradesmen have gone down the drains. You were better off doing it yourself. And Iโ€™m sure it wasnโ€™t the cheapest price just a quality of work is junk. Look on the bright side itโ€™s job security.

  39. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars craig Mills says:

Whatโ€™s up Chris? How many people do you use to set one of those big Lennox units in between those fans and condensers? For a new install.

  40. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Mrcaffinebean says:

We knew that electrician was a going to be great when they left the LB cover off. No effort from that dummy.

  41. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars The shreder shaun says:

I love your videos keep them coming!!! ๐Ÿ˜

  42. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Carl K says:

Did your 15 year old agree with your comment on the install looking like a 15 year old installed it?

  43. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Sam B says:

I was working on that exact model and had the vfd explode on me. There was multiple rubouts from the vfd to the IFM. It shot shit across the roof. Never found a short to ground and powered the breaker back on. As soon as the blower spinned up it went. Now I always check for rubouts even if I don't have a short to ground on the meter

  44. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Michael Goodman says:

Unbelievable! I see stuff exactly like this All The Time! And a lot of HVAC guys out there are just as worthless. Code for that vertical conduit should also be a minimum of 30โ€ above the roof.

  45. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars James Last Name says:

Leg 1 was pulling 69.69 amps.
    NICE!
