2-3 estimates is enough. The home owner needs to do some due diligence themselves. I had a guy tell me I was his 16th estimate. I should have walked out.

So I signed a contract for a hvac system in July. Contractor just disappeared. No hvac system.

Yup I will take care of it myself .. the hvac world is just like all service company’s .. I did it for over 45 years .. If I were you I would get out now because you will get cancer and die … And that the truth

Meh, I've found just asking for a copy of their license and insurance tells you all you need to know. When they immediately say "ok, what's your phone/email/fax/whatever and I"ll get that sent to you" bam you're good to go. They expect it to happen and they are proud that they are fully licensed and insured.

When they start hemming and hawing and you start getting a "story", well you now know you're dealing with someone who isn't fully above board. This is true for every type of contractor you have come to your house.

I tell people that no matter how much due diligence you do in picking a contractor that you only have a 50 percent chance of getting a satisfactory job.

    Hi Griffin,
I'm a mechanical engineer and I've I've studied to fix aircraft A&P license
My question to you is why do contractors call Us helicopters when we've been ripped off in the past.
Why can't we be there to overlook and observe,
Without contractors feeling like we are doing something wrong.
No I don't mean hovering like so much that you're impeding on their work.
Maybe I just want to learn how to do something, or I think the contractor should understand that.
Please give me some input on this because I've been screwed as like other people have been screwed in different areas of contractor versus customer
    Thank you Griffin appreciate everything.
Your friend Bruce and cousin from Millis Mass 😂 Are you in Nepean ?
