I call mine Brian.
Brian Boiler. Which is also incorrect because the water doesn't get to boiling but I hope the other comments aren't taking this too seriously. The appliance doesn't care what you call it. Service area Orleans??

It's a water heater. Cold water enters it, hot water exits it. If the water was already hot, it wouldn't need to be heated. Glad someone finally asked this question because it really grinds my gears when it's called a "hot" water heater. Thank you-
