We had an electrician giving one of our HVAC customers advice this past week. His advice was some very poor advice. In this video, Joshua shares some thoughts on who you should get your advice from in all trades and how unprofessional and inappropriate it is to give advice to a customer when you're not really an expert in that trade.

Guys i had a weird experience yesterday and i wanted to do a video on on it because i had an electrician at a customer's house. I have a that they have lp gas. They're tired of paying the high gas prices that they kept paying they were considering going dual fuel and then ultimately decided to just go to a straight electric heat pump system and what was odd was we had to get an electrician in there to pull them a couple of circuits one for the heat kit on the new air handler and this electrician was saying to the customer. How they were making a mistake.

And so first of all in my opinion especially if you're an electrician you're not an expert you might think you are but you're not an expert in my field if you're an electrician stay in your lane. I just think that's unprofessional. I had a customer that was counting on me and that electrician to do a good job for them. And then here's this electrician coming in behind us after.

We made an informed decision customer made the decision. But we helped them we answered their questions and helped them ultimately come to that decision. And it was just odd to me that this electrician felt that it was necessary and appropriate to say that to the customer ultimately if you're a homeowner that happens to catch this video. I would argue that first of all who are you getting your information from i have homeowners that'll comment on my videos or they'll go to our guide and they'll be telling me i was talking to my brother in law.

Who's an engineer and i'm like an engineer. And what because unless he's an engineer that went to trade school to do heating and air like we do at griffin air. You might want to ask an actual heating and air guy and see what his thoughts are just my two cents on that but ultimately if you've got an electrician that is giving you advice on heating and air stuff or vice versa. I wouldn't go to a homeowner and give them advice on their generator for their house.

Because that's not what we do even if i do feel like i know the answer to a question. I'll usually refer them. And say hey listen you might want to ask your electrician that i do that with builders. All the time homeowners will ask me a question.

Even a heating and air question that i might even still defer to their builder. I might say hey the location of your heating and air unit. Let's talk to your builder about that let's see what they think might make sense to put it here or there. But they get a vote in this too so ultimately do i think that all electricians are bad obviously not but i do think that folks in their trades should have a little professionalism don't tell the homeowner that they're making a mistake like this electrician was basically telling them and regardless of being professional you sound like an idiot.

If the homeowners already made an informed decision with an actual pro you might want to stop it just my two cents. Anyway let me know what your thoughts are if you caught this video. And you've experienced that you had an electrician giving you heating and air advice or you had a heating and air guy giving you plumbing advice. What are your thoughts on that have they ever given you good advice that were you able to avoid a pitfall that maybe you would have fallen through had someone not warned you maybe.
It is good i don't know thanks for watching hit that subscribe button. We'll see you next time.

Homeowner: So your advice is that me and HVAC tech are wrong? Electrician: Yes! Homeowner: Pack your sh*t and get off my property.
