Did you know there are really only five hot tub chemicals that you need to add to your hot tub? Here's everything that you need to have on hand to keep your water sanitized and balanced. Number one and two are pH increaser and decreaser. When your pH is balanced, it helps your other chemicals work properly and it prevents skin and irritation. Number three is alkalinity increaser.

Balancing your total alkalinity helps keep your pH from fluctuating wildly. Number four is sanitizer like bromine or chlorine. Your sanitizer kills contaminants, bacteria and algae and keeps your water safe for soaking. And number five is hot tub shock.

Now you'll want two types of shock: non-chlorine shock AKA oxidizer. It helps keep your sanitizer refreshed and active in the water. And the second one is chlorine shock which helps troubleshoot green or cloudy water. Let us know in the comments if you have any more hot tub chemical questions,.
