So they did not lose both ice machines at the same time, usually one goes down and they aren't that busy so they don't even notice. Than the other goes down and they are in panic mode.

The ice thickness sensor on the Indigo machines isn't really a sensor. It's a microphone, and that's what its showing you on the control board the 'volume' of 100hz, and 120hz noise of the water trickling is what it's picking up. Be careful while running these machines with the covers off, I've had issues trying to troubleshoot something with the front panel off, and they have a radio or bluetooth speaker in the kitchen playing music extremely loud. Very loud music can mess it up. If all the covers are on the machine, it's good enough sound proofing, and doesn't seem to bother anything. Not much of an issue, but if you're working on one of these machines, tell them to keep the music down. Saves you two headaches, one from 'long freeze' and the other from the 90+ dB of loud music…. 😀 Keep up the good work.

This was a badass service call, dude 🤙 Great video Service area Ottawa??

  3. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars brnmcc01 says:

The low head pressure on these Manitowocs on harvest is by design. They call it a CVD, or Cool Vapor Defrost. "To make hot gas systems work, the compressor must be as physically close to the ice making evaporator as possible. This also means the noise from the compressor is always concentrated at the ice making part of the system. This is not something you want in a customer environment. Manitowoc CVD ice machines use vapor refrigerant from the receiver tank to harvest the ice." — from Manitowoc literature

Found it funny when you got stuck in the keypad test and missed the "5 > to exit" for awhile 🙂

    not odd. cool af!

Nothing wrong with talking to yourself, it's something I do and it's helpful. A wise guy once told me that "You can talk to yourself, you can ask yourself questions, you can answer yourself, but you have to make sense to yourself." Seemed like a reasonable piece of advice to me. Are you in Ottawa ?

  7. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars tstartrekdude says:

I was cheering you on to figurout out 5> to exit lol! It was so suspenseful!

What is it with you Americans anything that is not right or fails for what ever reason are JUNK. I watch farming channels and it is the same. 😀😂😀😂😂😀😂😂 I was in industry 35/ 40 years ago. You certainly have some great tools/ test equipment now. 👍👍👍👍

Someone needs to unload the dish machine

  10. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Electrician TS79 says:

We have those machines where I work. As a maintenance mechanic, they are a pain in the ass. Always malfunctioning, or need new boards every year for some reason. Trying to troubleshoot/navigate the digitals is a double pain in the ass. As a union company, we dont like calling in outsiders if possible. I guess I'll watch this video 100 times to understand what to look for. 😅 Nice job with these!

  11. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars A Wilson says:

Of COURSE you talk to yourself…

How else are you going to have an Intelligent Conversation or get Spectacularly Great Advice?

    😄😁😆😅😂🤣

    Should have bought Hoshi's 🙂

  16. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Brian Billington Jr. says:

How lucky are you that the machines clean before you work on it, I spend too much time bringing machines back to clean to diagnose- usually cleaning fixes issue. 2000 gallon point of use filters and don’t call anyone till it breaks is law around my area

  17. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Alimuh007 says:

The touch pad button check looked like it wanted the right position button to be depressed 5 x's to exit the test but I'm not sure.

#2 pencil works just as well for bridge thickness

  24. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars HoldenDevil says:

I feel ya pain I've worked on two ice machines today and both were a pain in my ass

  25. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars wakcedout says:

i work on ice machines with the fountain beverage company i work for. we have plenty because my boss wants to be one stop shop for people beverage needs, aside from beer kegs.

and when i show up to an ice machine down i do the same thing, i restart it and watch it run. but what i didnt know with the Indigo series is that i could activate the relays and see what happens. some of our units are in areas with terrible water and that will be very useful.

of course we dont do the roof top compressor units. and when the compressors an issue im always out of my league.

  26. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Bryan A.K. says:

I did the thermostat in the return on a 50 ton intellipak. Board was or still is months out.

  27. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Ricky bobby says:

At One of the seminars Jared for Manitowoc told us that a yellow number two orange pencil is the perfect gap tool to adjust the probe distance on these water probes. I've used it a ton of times and it's worked perfect

  28. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Hustle Union says:

i have yet to see one of those "cleaned" ever. always some black shmoo hanging around somewhere.

  29. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars joey shelby says:

Another great video Chris! really enjoy the videos and learn from you troubleshooting machines

  30. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Kirkdrive says:

Replaced many of those touch pads. No need to replace the display itself; the touch pad itself is always the problem.

  31. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars mjboy8790 says:

Your talking trash about cleaners but can’t even get through the board menu and just throw unnecessary parts at it charging the customer. No reason you couldn’t of cleaned that sensor

  32. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Zac Cody says:

I too talk to myself while troubleshooting haha

  33. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Bryan Harayda says:

Love your videos man! Are you in Nepean ?

  34. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Simr Khera says:

Sometimes things need a software update to work better or fix a glitch

  35. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Noor Refrigeration system says:

Sir, it would be great if all of us who are dealing with air conditioning online all over the world can come together in some way.

  36. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Bryan Harayda says:

I love a Manitowoc, especially the Indigo series lol. So many ways to make it work when lots of things fail. By the way, I need a water level probe and there are like 85 on back order from my vendor, such a pain! Also, using a very low abrasive type of cloth/paper will clean those water level probes to make them work, I usually use a dollar bill and then wipe it down with some sanitizer solution

  37. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Joseph Hortin says:

Fun fact, your standard #2 pencil is the correct spacing for the thickness sensor Are you in Kanata ?

  38. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars CalebBlackhand says:

Sometimes you need to speak with the most experienced troubleshooter… so you speaking to yourself is easily explained 😁

  39. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars TheRealoldcar says:

Excellent video. Great details. On the Tee that you use, is that a female flare connector or a 1/4 SAE with rubber seals? Are you in Barrhaven ?

  40. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Hunter Covington says:

Ice machines are different, if you can fix a Trane Air conditioner you can pretty much fix a carrier. But just because you can fix a Hoshizaki doesn’t mean you can fix a Manitowoc. Especially with these modern machines they have so many different ways that they operate

  41. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Hunter Covington says:

I talk to myself when troubleshooting too

  42. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Fluffy Blue says:

Owner: there's two ice machines, so there will always be ice, so the business can stay open and make money.
Manager: there's two ice machines, so I wait with calling service until both are down, to save money.

  43. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Anthony Riddick says:

    Silly people 😂

  44. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Johnathan Chuprun says:

Nothing wrong with talking to yourself – heck it's even encouraged sometimes. Pilots are encouraged or even required to speak out loud the steps they are going through, and it's not just for the sake of verification/communication. There are many studies showing that so called "self-explaining" is very effective.

  45. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars CA Dawg says:

Jump pin 3 and 6… Ive searched everywhere trying to find out what pins to jump… Thanks for sharing. lol
I've always used the oem fan control and pressure switches on the Manitowocs. I probably should start stocking aftermarket ones for when they are not available. I've always been told that Manitowoc ice machines do not do well with aftermarket switches. Even my local supply houses are afraid to recommend any for Manitowocs so I never did. Service area Kanata??

  46. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars shadow demon says:

"notice it's not gonna move" proceeds to knock prob and it moves. Idk why found that hilarious 🤣

  47. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars HeroCaleb says:

Chris, nothing wrong with talking to yourself. I talk to myself all the time when troubleshooting.

  48. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Darren Neal says:

I’m not in the trade, but I really enjoy watching your videos. It’s always nice to see someone that takes pride in their profession.

Is there a YT channel that you recommend for residential HVAC videos? The lights in my new house dim for a split-second whenever the compressor starts up.

  49. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Big N8, Aged Student says:

Q: what's the opposite of ice?

    A: noice
