Hey everyone welcome to swimuniversity.com. My name is matt javanese and today i'm going to show you how to drain clean and refill your hot tub. The first step is draining your hot tub. You're gon na need a sump pump or you can use the drain plug on your hot tub or you can use both.
The next step is cleaning your hot tub. What you're going to want to use is a soft rag and any hot tub cleaner that you can find. We have some on our website here or you can find one from a good hot tub, a good hot tub dealer. Now that you have the hot tub drained, it's a good time to take out your filters and clean them.
You can use a filter cleaner. We have three methods: a filter, cleaner with a quick rinse, a chemical rinse and a chemical soak once your hot tub is completely drained and it's completely cleaned. You want to make sure you rinse it down, because you don't want any of that hot tub chemical that you use to clean it into the water. Once you rinse it down, you might need to use your sump pump again to pull the rest of the water out.
So we're going to do that and then once you have all the water out, then you can just go ahead and refill it. Once you refill your hot tub, you're going to want to add those filters back in make sure they're completely rinsed and there's no residue left on the on the filters. And you want to make sure that you add the chemicals that you need to get your hot tub up and running we're talking about your ph, your alkalinity, if you use calcium and chlorine or any other type of sanitizer that you use. So that's it! That's all you have to do in order to drain clean and refill your hot tub for more information.
You can visit our website at swimuniversity.com and thanks for watching it's a sump pump right s-u-m-p. This is a dumb word. Sump, you.
Finally a video that is to the point without all that jabber in between!!! Thank you for the tutorial. 🙂
it IS a dumb word!

Thanks for the tutorial, what hot tub brands do you recommend? Service area Ottawa??
I used jet cleaner, drained, and refilled the tub. I did not rinse it very well, so now I have gunky residue everywhere – on the shell of the spa, and I can feel it inside the jet lines as far as my finger goes into them. What do I do now?

I drain and clean my hot tub. I refilled and put my bromine tablets in my duck floater. Is it any other chemicals I need to add?
