We toured the largest heating and air manufacturing facility in the nation Welcome to Daikin In this video we are going to show you what's behind closed doors for most homeowners and show you things that have never been recorded before. Never. We're going to show you how this massive facility in small town America is changing the HVAC industry and we will even show you some upcoming products that haven't been released to the market yet. Most of that will be in our new series that you can find in our YouTube playlist called Daikin Texas Technology Park Trip.

But best of all we are going to show you the real magic which is the people making it all happen. People that are passionate and excited that Daikin has chosen to create American jobs that we're going to get to meet right here. So let's get started. How big is this place? Really? It's Big.

It's Huge. How big is the Daikin Factory 74 football fields can fit inside the factory. And to prove that point, how big that is, I'm here at our local high school football field I'm going to run this thing 74 times to show you how big that is. Let's get started.

I don't know what I was thinking out here running like I'm Mr Beast or somebody making YouTube videos I'm too chubby for this. This place is so big that 11 U.S Navy Super Carriers would fit inside this building. Seven Empire State buildings would fit under this roof. We drove almost a half a mile to get from one side of the building to the other.

There are thousands of people that work here. thousands of American jobs. over 20 languages are spoken in this Factory on any given day online at different Giant Elephant right? I Never seen anything like this. Yeah, because that's what made this company special.

Thank you! Now let's go to the brand new Daikin Fit product line. Believe it or not, this is the first time anyone has recorded this assembly line. It was important to Daikin to have this product assembled on an assembly line here in America. We will be doing more videos in the future with the people that work on the Daikin Fit assembly line.

Some companies are first, some are best, some are just different. Daikin seems to be all three We asked Mark Bellinger Director of Marketing Communications what's the big picture for Daikin And he said this when you consider that that 40 to 60 percent right of the energy used in in buildings in North America are used actually by Heating and Cooling products, right? So we as a manufacturer, we feel that we really have a strong role to play in helping reducing the energy usage which would help reducing CO2 emissions right for us When we see you know if we look ahead in our crystal ball and what we know of the market right? and we look at regulation, the regulation, environment, consumer interest as well towards more sustainable type products but also better. Comfort System Indoor quality is a very strong component Iot connected devices right? So it's all part of really the developments that the industry as a whole is going to. Another cool thing we did while there was visit: what Daikin calls the Dojo.
The dojo is Daikin's top-notch school behind the scenes showing how they get the best in the industry at brazing. Among other things. they go through intense training which even includes Global competitions but more on that in a future video. Foreign on right now is uh, part of our five-day training that we have.

So we conduct a 40-hour training usually uh from Monday through Friday. Um, so right now they're on their second day. Uh, but you see them going right now is over just some standard brazing techniques in order to ensure that you know we're uh, training our employees to the to the best potential that they can have. you know? So right now we have three stations kind of set up right now they're They're still in the beginning stages but the the point is to get them to get a lot better by Friday Here we are in the Daikin Factory We're up on what they call the mezzanine right above everything and you can see I mean it's just so hard to tell the sheer how big this place is.

This is just one side so we can turn around and you see it on this side too. So we've got. We've got some Goodman units being built down here, foreign turned on, being tested and then we go right across. Here's some Amana units being built.

So all these units Daikin Goodman and Amana all being built right here in America right here in Houston Texas Another cool thing is some of the community projects Daikin does? We can't fit them all into one video? But here's Chad for a few. what you're seeing is one of our community projects. Okay, we go every year to Waller ISD the elementary schools. Now there's five schools in Waller Elementary We bring over the Earth Day topic.

Okay, so we're kind of starting to promote in the younger generation. Being environmentally conscious, we want the kids to really start thinking about that as a young age as Daikin. We're very aware globally as one of our environmental concerns and we had the kids draw their depiction of what the theme is for that year. so every year it changes a couple years you'll see up here.

one was plastic waste, one is animal conservation and so different. different years, different pictures and we go around and of course all the materials are supplied by us. How old are these kids? Fifth graders are about? No way. Yeah, yeah, these are fifth graders.

Wow. So way more talented than me if you see some of them on the walls is quite impressive. What's the motivation for Daikin to want to do this well other than having awesome artwork on the wall besides having free decorations, Yeah, no. we are always very involved in our community.

This is a core value for all of our facilities where we manufacture. We don't just want to set up shop. This is one of many programs that we have in the community. You'll learn more about that.
When you go to the dojo, they have one in place. We give scholarships. we go to the Ffas I was in a parade one year so it really is one of the more unique aspects. I Believe what we do.

Finally, we wrapped up with some of the lead project managers, engineers, and team leaders covering some of the great product lines and even some upcoming products. Let's start with Jim Cahill One of the folks behind Daikin's One Cloud Services which allows homeowners and contractors the ability to know when something's wrong with your HVAC system before. there's a big problem. 20 years in the industry Um, I've been on the contractor side I've been on the distributor side I've worked for other manufacturers and I've even done a startup software startup in the industry.

The simple fact of the matter is Daikin has gone from zero to over 7 billion in sales in North America in the last 20 years Globally, they are the leader of HVAC. They're the ones who innovated. They're the ones who created Vrv. Brought that to the market.

They're the ones that you know when you look at our compressors, when you look at the technology that goes into that. For somebody in the industry, there is one clear leader and that's that's this company. Next we talked to Connie Schroeder one of the leaders behind Daikin's ductless products. Daikin We are focused on HVAC equipment.

It's 91 of our business, so other brands. they. they look at other different things different home appliances um, your fridge, your washer and dryer, your HVAC equipment. So that's a lot of things that you're working to do in someone's home.

but Daikin 91 of of what our business model is is air conditioning equipment. So I kind of talk about it as like the Chick-fil-A model. like pick one thing and do it well. and for Daikin it's heat pump, inverter, refrigerant management technology and we're doing that well.

So you can trust that there's a lot of resources going into that system and all of our focus is on that. and we're aligning ourselves up to be number one in North America So it's a great, great company to be a part of. And yeah, next we talked to David Palazzolo who was part of the launch of one of the industry's leading products that Daikin fit. From an innovation standpoint, we always want to really showcase and highlight and give the Daikin contractors kind of a little bit of the Leading Edge.

you know spokes like yourself and so we always try to Roll Out product launches for the Daikin brand. First foreign. We have videos launching soon that will have more in-depth interviews with everyone we've shown and some that we haven't shown. Our last clip comes from Jim Lowell who is part of a lot of the Daikin controls used for their systems.

Daikin is first of all, number one in the world. Um, more Daikin systems installed and running around the world than any other manufacturer. so we are number one in the world. You don't get there unless you do some things right.
Oh, you can does a lot of things very right. The ability to manage heat and humidity in your home from the energy, from the ability to manage airflow for for Optimum comfort and as we've already discussed to manage your energy usage. we had such a great time visiting. Daikin Texas Technology Park The products and Company are great but the biggest thing I took away from this whole experience was seeing the pride many of the people have working for this company.

I Might be buying a great product and having Pride on my end, but seeing firsthand behind the scenes The Pride that a lot of these folks have was almost surreal. So that's it guys. Please hit that subscribe button wrapping up here at the Daikin Factory in Houston Texas We'll see you next time.

The IT in the facility wear black leather biker vests (they say it is so they can carry more cables and stuff). Its very funny and distinguished their maroon colored shirts from the medical red shirts.

Goodman is a subsidiary of Daikin. Under Goodman are brands like Amana , GMC and Janitrol. Daikon is considered #1 in HVAC systems. Mitsubishi is another Japanese HVAC manufacturer with excellent products. Mitsubishi has teamed up with Trane/American Standard out of Tyler, TX.

Pretty funny Syracuse used to have a huge carrier facility. Funny how transportation cost justifies building facilities in US

U.K. is the same Assembled is not the same as Made in America over here we bring the bits in made in China and stick them together so as we can say assembled in ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง not quite the same a play on words. They cost a fortune to run donโ€™t be kidded.North America is that Canada the bit we kept ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง

Oh wow just seen the entire video you should definitely make a part 2 didn't even realize daikin was this big ๐Ÿ˜ณ i work there i am thinking of working here for a while meanwhile fund my goals yeah daikin is a good working environment i cannot deny that love working here maybe in the near future would like to promote daikin with my influence right now very small

  12. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars krasskswg says:

Great video, but something that keeps getting skipped over in every video I've seen when someone tours this facility is the software system behind the manufacturing process. I worked for that team for about five years, and it's a pretty impressive piece of work. From fabrication to the finished product that exits the assembly lines, the software in that plant was built from the ground up and has saved the company millions in avoided quality issues and warranty claims, and just overall set the bar for a quality product.

I was impacted positively by my visit there a few months ago. I even would work there if it were not 2 hours away. I loved the setting and the multicultural format was humbling. The kitchen though! Yum!

Hello Joshua; I watched that tour of Daikin's new factory in Houston and it's fantastic. Enjoyed every minute of it; just couldn't make any comments then.

Can you make a video explaining the Liberty HVAC lineup that Daikan has and how they have the option to "build your own brand". This is very confusing and I'm thinking that Liberty is the exact same equipment as Amana with a different logo. Thanks!

  19. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Nathen Zuber says:

Have you seen the Mitsubishi HVAC manufacturing facility? Are you in Nepean ?

  20. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Nathen Zuber says:

The only issue with Daikin is that they produce "builder's grade" equipment.

  21. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Ricky Cox says:

  24. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Davids1964 says:

So Daikin makes Goodman and Amana? Or just assemble? One reason why the industry is so screwed up. In my opinion. Are you in Kanata ?

  25. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars MADE by AP says:

Excellent!!!! Great tour and interviews man!

  26. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Home Rapid Repair says:

Very cool video my friend. Awesome views and information

  27. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Garth Clark says:

Thats a lot of overhead to support…makes you wonder just how much of the wholesale price or "cost" price is markup vs. cost of manufacturing and development etc. The fact that they are in Texas makes logistic sense, smack in the middle of the USA so that parts and support, shipping etc. is as equal as it can be regardless of customer location. Reminds me of the old days when Dell made their decision to move to Texas, for that same reason.

  28. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars John White says:

Josh- how do the fit systems compare with their hi seer โ€˜trash canโ€™ style units? Just the condenser size, orientation?

  29. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Ahmed Almoalla says:

Was expected deep information in details, something like VRV product line or what's new in thermostat for example but thanks enjoyed watching. Service area Orleans??

  30. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Hooter Texas says:

    Iโ€™ve been there. Itโ€™s a marvel

  31. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Matthew Byrd says:

Absolutely incredible company to work for!! I couldnโ€™t be more proud to be a part of it! Daikin Comfort!!!

  32. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Philip P says:

Dear Daikin, if youโ€™re reading the commentsโ€ฆ please make a packaged unit!

  33. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Terry Haas says:

You were lucky. You got to ride in a cart. I had to walk the length of the factory twice when I took a tour of the factory for a job interview. Unfortunately, the facility is out of middle of nowhere so they probably are having trouble recruiting employees. The pay was below market in my opinion. Itโ€™s probably a good place for new college graduates. Service area Nepean??

  34. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars RELIABLE HVACR says:

Dude that was so awesome, great video Service area Barrhaven??

  35. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars AnalogueKid2112 says:

Amazing video Josh! I love seeing this, a company investing in America and proud enough to show the build process to the world. You donโ€™t find any of the other big HVAC brands opening up their plants to show them off on YouTube. Are you in Barrhaven ?

  36. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars GENERALCOOT says:

I know people who work here this is cool

  37. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars lil cameaux says:

As someone who works as a data analyst at this facility itโ€™s awesome to see it shown off! DTTP really is incredible.

  38. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Zia Uddin says:

good large HVAC Daikin company in US # ๐Ÿ‘ ๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ฐ

  39. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Louis S says:

Itโ€™s great to see that these units are being assembled in the United States. The important question is: where are the components made?? And what do the replacement parts cost. Not many families can afford condensing fan motors that cost 1k, much less the labor cost too ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ

  40. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars SC Texan says:

I'm seriously considering Daikin mini splits for my new home. One question: did you see any new configurations on the mini split heads? I saw a video where the Coopers and ? had a real easy to remove blower wheel for cleaning. The cleaning issue will be the only reason I don't get mini split system.

  41. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Made in USA says:

All those units yet we canโ€™t get the equipment we need?! ๐Ÿ˜‚

  42. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Chuck Balsamo says:

I love the way you told this Daikin story! Wow, what a great company!!

  43. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Josh Sansone says:

What i enjoyed the most is seeing the investment right here in the USA with thousands of good paying jobs. As long as the quality control and product developement is there I can get on board with this!

  44. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars YeeeBa YeeBa says:

    Alluminum coils? Trash. Lol.
I know just about everyone uses AL now. Service area Ottawa??

  45. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars YeeeBa YeeBa says:

Do you know if Daiken is now making their own zone boards, or are they still out-sourcing them?
