Hey everyone welcome to swimuniversity.com. My name is matt javanese and today we're going to show you how to vacuum your swimming pool. Now what you're going to need is a few supplies. First, a vacuum hose a vacuum head and a telescopic pole.

Now you can also use a skinvac which is a round plate that you put inside your skimmer, or you can just put the hose directly inside the skimmer. I'm going to show you both ways on how to do that. Put the vacuum head on the telescopic pole and attach the hose to the vacuum then put the vacuum head in the pool. Next, put the other end of the hose up against the return jet to fill it with water when the bubbles stop rising from your vacuum head, your hose should be filled, remove the basket from your skimmer and then cup the hose with your hand and keep the Water in and place it into the open, suction hole or you can use a skimmer vacuum plate instead, then just slowly vacuum your pool until it's all finished.

Now, that's how you set up a manual vacuum to vacuum, your entire pool. When you go through the pool, you want to make sure that you do it slow to not kick up any debris so that you can actually pick it up with the vacuum. If you have any questions visit our website swimuniversity.com and thanks for watching you.

I have had my pool for 16 years and have been unable to get the vacuum to work. After watching your video we were able to do it by placing the hose down the skimmer!! What a way to clean now!!!

I have an Intex vacuum kit and my pool is only 10’ diameter round. It appears that my hose is in 3 sections and I could probably make it less cumbersome with one less section. But there is this white collar surrounding each section’s junction. Is that easily removed or do I just have to get out the heavy machinery and cut it off?

Why put hose in over the deck? Nope, go through skimmer opening. Also, feeding hose into water like a straw is faster and easier than filling via the return. Is that for the graduate program? Service area Nepean??

    Matt,
Would you be willing to do a new video on the types of vacuums? I’m installing a pool now and I’ve seen suction vacuums, pressure cleaners, robotic, battery powered. There are so many different options!
